Sustainability

Sustainability & ESG

At STS Marine, sustainability isn’t an add-on—it’s embedded in every aspect of our fleet management. We are firmly committed to achieving Net Zero emissions by 2050, guided by clear Environmental, Social, and Governance (ESG) priorities.

From energy efficiency retrofits and CII monitoring to crew welfare and responsible procurement, our operations are designed to minimize environmental impact while maximizing long-term value. Sustainability drives our innovation, shapes our partnerships, and defines our role in the future of global shipping.

We are fully aligned with the IMO 2023 GHG Strategy, committing to achieve Net Zero greenhouse gas emissions by 2050, with clear milestones in 2030 and 2040.

“Sustainability isn’t an add-on—it’s our course.”

Net Zero by 2050 Crew Welfare Global Compliance

ESG Pillars

Environmental

We are committed to achieving Net Zero emissions by 2050, guided by international frameworks such as MARPOL, SEEMP III, and CII. Our fleet operations include proactive compliance with ballast water and biofouling regulations, ensuring minimal ecological impact and alignment with global sustainability goals.

We continuously invest in energy efficiency retrofits, low-carbon technologies, and voyage optimization tools to reduce fuel consumption and emissions across our fleet.

Social

Our crewing philosophy centers on crew welfare, fair treatment, and mental health support. Through continuous training and development, we empower seafarers with the skills and resilience needed to operate safely and responsibly in a dynamic maritime environment.

We promote diversity and inclusion, uphold ethical labor practices, and ensure that every crew member has access to a safe, supportive, and growth-oriented workplace.

Governance

We uphold rigorous compliance standards across all operations, including OCIMF, SIRE 2.0, TMSA, and NIMASA protocols. Our governance model ensures transparency, accountability, and operational integrity—reinforcing trust with stakeholders and regulatory bodies.

We maintain robust internal controls, conduct regular audits, and foster a culture of ethical decision-making and continuous improvement.

Our ESG Commitment

Environmental Stewardship

  • Net Zero by 2050 – Our operations are aligned with IMO checkpoints:
    • 20–30% reduction in carbon intensity by 2030
    • 70–80% reduction by 2040
    • Full Net Zero (well-to-wake) by 2050
  • Energy Efficiency & CII Monitoring – We monitor and manage the Carbon Intensity Indicator (CII) for every vessel, supported by SEEMP Part III plans.
  • Pollution Prevention – Zero tolerance for spills, strict MARPOL compliance, and ballast water and biofouling management to protect marine biodiversity.
  • Innovation & Technology – We adopt energy-saving technologies, voyage optimization tools, and explore alternative fuels for the future.

Social Responsibility

  • Safety First – The health, safety, and welfare of our seafarers and shore staff remain our top priority.
  • Fairness & Inclusion – We respect diversity and ensure equal opportunities for all, irrespective of nationality, gender, or faith.
